The Social Investment Unit

The SIU will use data and analytics to provide evidence-based information, tools, guidance and products to social agencies to help inform their investment and decision-making and create improved outcomes for vulnerable New Zealanders.

To advance and embed a systemic approach to social investment across the social sector, including:

  • Championing a social investment approach
  • Acting as stewards of the social investment system
  • Partnering with agencies
  • Building and operating the centralised platform required
  • Prototyping solutions
  • Building a reusable infrastructure.

Enable a collective approach to investing in what works to improve the lives of New Zealanders, creating lasting change.

The SIU will build and manage the social investment ‘engine room’ – for Budget 2017 and beyond – that is agency-neutral and can be applied to any population, spend or service model.
